It is used for refractory applications, brake pads, carbon brushes for electric motors, foundries, as a dry lubricant, for steel manufacturing and in battery industry, for anode manufacturing. Natural graphite is one of the most common materials used in battery anodes, thanks to its abundance, low cost, long cycle life and conductive properties.

Projects
Grafintec Oy and Epsilon Advanced Materials have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Vaasa for the establishment of an anode materials production facility to be located in the GigaVaasa area. The MoU follows the signing of a Joint Venture Heads of Terms by Grafintec and Epsilon and their intention to build a production facility.
In mineral exploration, Grafintec Oy has projects in Heinävesi, Tuusniemi and Lapua. Currently, the company is developing the Aitolampi graphite deposit located in Heinävesi.
